Terms of Sale & Licence
Last updated 10 July 2026
These terms govern your use of the bvr2mp4 software (the "Software") and any licence you purchase for it. Please read them before downloading or buying. By installing or using the Software you agree to these terms.
1. What the Software does
bvr2mp4 converts Blue Iris .bvr recordings into MP4 files on your own computer. bvr2mp4 is an independent tool and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to Perspective Software LLC, the maker of Blue Iris.
2. Free preview and paid licence
A free, watermarked preview of any file is available on our website at no cost, so you can confirm your footage decodes before buying. To download and use the Software itself, and to convert full-length files without a watermark, you must purchase a licence. Your download links are provided after purchase and are tied to your purchase.
- A licence is a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use the Software for its intended purpose. A personal licence is for use on a single device; a commercial licence covers business use.
- A licence is sold as a one-time purchase for the price shown at checkout (shown in your local currency). It is not a subscription.
- Your licence is tied to your account and may not be shared, resold, or sub-licensed.
- To operate the licence, the Software activates online and periodically re-checks with us, sending your licence key, a one-way hashed identifier of the device it runs on, and basic system details (see our Privacy Policy). We use this to keep your licence working and to detect misuse.
- We keep a record of the devices your licence activates on. We reserve the right to suspend or revoke a licence used on more than one device, shared with others, or otherwise used in breach of these terms.
3. Payments and reseller
Purchases are processed by our reseller and Merchant of Record, Paddle (Paddle.com Market Limited), who handles the transaction, invoicing and applicable taxes (including VAT). When you buy a licence your contract for that purchase is with Paddle as reseller; these licence terms still govern your use of the Software. Paddle's own terms and privacy notice also apply to the payment.
4. Refunds
We offer a 30-day money-back guarantee: if you're not satisfied for any reason, contact us within 30 days of purchase for a full refund, no questions asked. See our Refund Policy for details. Refund requests are handled via Paddle in line with their buyer terms and your statutory rights.
5. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source of the Software, except to the extent this restriction is prohibited by law;
- circumvent the licensing or the preview watermark;
- redistribute, rent, or resell the Software; or
- use the Software to process footage you do not have the right to handle.
You are solely responsible for the recordings you convert and for complying with any laws that apply to that footage (including data-protection and surveillance laws).
6. Your footage stays yours
Conversion runs entirely on your device, and we do not receive or store the recordings you convert in the app. The app does connect to the internet to activate and keep your licence current and to send basic usage statistics, as described in our Privacy Policy; your footage is never part of that. (The separate preview on our website works on a short sample you upload, also covered in the Privacy Policy.)
7. Web preview (bvr2mp4.com)
This website lets you try the Software on your own file before downloading it. If you use this feature:
- only the first 32MB of the file you choose is sent to us, never the whole recording;
- we keep that sample to test and improve our decoding software;
- the preview returned to you is watermarked and is not a substitute for the full, watermark-free conversion the desktop app produces; and
- you must not upload footage you do not have the right to process, on the same basis as section 5 above.
8. Updates
We may release updates to the Software. Blue Iris is a third-party product that can change; while we aim to keep bvr2mp4 working with current and past versions, we cannot guarantee compatibility with every present or future Blue Iris release.
9. Warranty and liability
The Software is provided "as is". To the fullest extent permitted by law we exclude implied warranties. We do not exclude or limit liability where it would be unlawful to do so (including for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for fraud). Subject to that, our total liability to you in connection with the Software or a licence is limited to the amount you paid for that licence.
Nothing in these terms affects your non-excludable statutory rights as a consumer under UK law.
10. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction, without affecting any mandatory consumer-protection rights you have where you live.
11. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. The version in force is the one published here, with the date shown above.
